This test is used to detect a suspected Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) infection. EBV is a herpes-type virus which is the cause of classic infectious mononucleosis. EBV is causally implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic fatigue syndrome, Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinomas, and rare hereditary lymphoproliferative disorders. Instructions Fasting is not required for this test. Take all medications as prescribed. |
