Glycomark® Blood Test
Item # LC500115
Discover how frequently your blood sugar is spiking
The GlycoMark® blood test assesses glucose control after a meal and is often tested in conjunction with hemoglobin A1c. The results will help you understand how many blood sugar spikes you have had over the last 10 to 14 days.
Are you a diabetic who routinely tests for hemoglobin A1C? Have you ever wondered if your HbA1C result of 7.0 was good or bad? The GlycoMark® test can help. Assessing blood sugar spikes after eating can be challenging. The GlycoMark blood test measures a glucose-like sugar called 1,5-Anhydroglucitol (1,5-AG), and is a simple blood test used to measure post-meal glucose control. This blood test reflects your average maximum blood glucose and helps you know how many blood sugar spikes you have had over the last 10 to 14 days. Values above 14 are considered ideal. A value of 10 is considered "good". Anything lower is a sign of frequent blood sugar spikes. If your GlycoMark is 14, it means you achieved an HbA1C of 7.0 without lots of highs and lows. If your GlycoMark is 2, then you had lots of spikes and crashes to get that average. The ideal combination is a good HbA1c with a high GlycoMark. Instructions Fasting is not required for this test. Take all medications as prescribed. |
