Thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) is one of three proteins responsible for carrying the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) in the bloodstream. These hormones can be found in two forms: free or attached to a protein. The greatest percentage of thyroid hormones are attached to TBG. This test can be used to:
